Goal Setting for Women of Color in the Nonprofit Sector

  • Center for Nonprofit Excellence 2340 Alamo Avenue Southeast, 2nd floor Albuquerque, NM, 87106 United States (map)

As the former director of a statewide nonprofit capacity building organization, working closely with executive directors and boards of directors, I have seen and experienced first hand the stark gender and racial inequity within the sector. I’m thrilled to lead a session on the topic at the Center for Nonprofit Excellence.

Description

As women in the sector, we make up the majority of front-line positions (just take a look around your office) while executive leadership and board positions are predominantly held by men. As women of color, we are aware of the lack of representation at all leadership levels.

Whether you want to move into a leadership position at your organization or make a change, you need time to think and breathe and plan. On top of your professional goals and balancing a busy personal life, it feels like there aren’t enough hours in the day!

This session will help you take a holistic look at where you are in relation to where you want to be. We’ll use a proprietary goal-setting framework to clearly define your leadership and personal development goals. Through group discussion and hands-on planning, you will walk away with a road map for the next 3-6 months.

You will walk away with:

  1. A deeper understanding of your strengths and how they are being applied in your professional life

  2. Clear goals for the next 3-6 months

  3. A road map for getting your goals
